Life is an improvisation.
You have no idea what’s going to happen next,
and you are mostly just making things up as you go along.

Challenging. Strange. Significant. Pandemic. Divisive. Confusing. Unifying. Polarizing. Quarantine. Tragic. Defining. Distancing. Masking. Enlightening. Frightening. Inspiring. Isolating. Sobering. History-making. 2020.

In this post I’m not going to try to write about this year, I am just going to share one photo from each of these past months. Yes, an extremely difficult task I’ve given myself to choose just one! These pictures are not necessarily the most impressive photography, rather a snapshot–if you will–of special or significant moments.

JANUARY
First desert sunset of 2020 after spending time with special friends, Jo & Steve.
FEBRUARY
Celebrating my 62nd birthday with family.
MARCH
Just-because-wildflowers from my sweetheart.
APRIL
A lucky shot while cruising around Martinez Lake on the boat.
MAY
Jim took a photo of me doing what I do.

JUNE
Alcohol ink art for my daughter’s 40th birthday (rescheduled from April).

JULY
Hiking on the Oregon Trail in Idaho.

AUGUST
We finally got to celebrate our anniversary (rescheduled from March).

SEPTEMBER
Doing what it takes to keep up with Jim on the trail.

OCTOBER
This was the first year either of us has voted in a very long time. We felt it was very important to do so this year so we took advantage of a mobile outdoor early voting location.

NOVEMBER
My favorite photo from our trip south for snowbirding winter #6.

DECEMBER
Celebrating with my super cool dad on his 83rd birthday. (Don’t worry, we took the appropriate quarantine measures while parked on his property before we spent time inside.)

As of this writing COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing as never before but I’m happy to say we are both healthy and happy and ready to find new remote places to adventure and explore. Oh, and I haven’t given up on sunsets and lovely views so stay tuned. 🙂

What is your word for 2020?
